Returning to Gymnastics – New Procedures

We are delighted to be able to start our return to gymnastics. All our pre-lockdown timetables are no longer correct due to the restrictions on numbers and protocols for arriving at gym and leaving gym, if you have a class query please email hewett@spring-gymnastics.co.uk

Covid 19 Risk Assessment

Before returning to gym, it is important that everyone familiarise themselves with the risk assessment and shares this information with their gymnasts. You can access the risk assessment here:- Spring Gymnastics Risk Assessment – COVID Re-opening.pdf

We have new procedures in place for both clubs. Please familiarise yourself with these here:-

General Procedures

  • Please do not come to gym if your child is showing any signs of COVID-19.
  • Gymnasts will need to come dressed for gym, with hair tied back. The changing rooms are closed.
  • All gymnasts will need to bring a bag or box big enough to put all their things in, including shoes and jumpers, they will keep this with them throughout the session.
  • Doors will be open in the gym for ventilation so please dress accordingly.
  • If possible please make sure they have gone to the toilet before arriving at the gym.
  • If gymnasts use chalk it will need to be in a big sealed bag, big enough for them to get their hands into.
  • Coaches have to adhere to social distancing rules unless in an emergency
  • Gymnasts will need to be able to do their own handguards up (please practise at home if necessary)
  • Gymnasts will need to do their own shoes up, slip on shoes are advisable
  • Gymnasts will be asked to use sanitiser or wash hands during the session, you are welcome to bring your own hand sanitiser.
  • Gymnasts will be socially distancing in the gym from each other and the coaches.
  • Equipment will be cleaned by coaches between each gymnast’s turn.
  • There will be a break between each group to clean the equipment.

Hewett – Procedure for gymnasts entering and exiting the gym

  • Please wait outside the front of the gym on the ‘red feet’ until a coach calls you in.
  • Bring everything with you in a bag or box, these will stay with you during your session.
  • A coach will register you and take your temperature with a contactless thermometer.
  • You will need to use the contactless sanitisers to clean your hands.
  • You may use your own sanitisers once in the gym.
  • The gym is split into two halves – The BLUE BUBBLE and the PURPLE BUBBLE
  • You will either be in the BLUE BUBBLE or the PURPLE BUBBLE
  • The coach will tell you which bubble you are in. It will alternate every week.
  • The BLUE BUBBLE enters the gym via the Old Entrance.
  • The PURPLE BUBBLE enters the gym via the Old exit.
  • Each bubble has their own toilet and sink.
  • Once in the gym you will stay with your coach and group.
  • ALL gymnasts will exit via the back fire exit doors.

Hewett – Pre-school

  • Socially distance as much as possible in the gym
  • If you come into the gym (Free Play & Parent & Toddler) you are responsible for ensuring your children stay at least one metre away from other people.
  • Please can adults wear masks in the reception and changing areas.
  • It is also advisable to wear masks in the gym during the session. It is not compulsory as it is not required by law in a leisure setting where you are participating in a class situation. Normal exemptions apply if you have asthma.
  • The coaches will be wearing clear visors in the pre school classes.

Hewett – Procedure for parents/carers

  • Please do not park in the front car park, unless absolutely necessary.
  • The car park spaces next to the gym building will be cordoned off.
  • No parents are permitted in the gym, unless in an emergency.
  • We have to follow strict government guidelines as to how many people we allow in the gym.
  • Please stay with your gymnast until a coach calls them in the gym.
  • Do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your class starts.
  • There may be some delays getting gymnasts in and out of the gym due to social distancing, please be patient.
  • The gymnasts will exit via the back doors
  • Go through the middle car park, go behind the bins and turn right.
  • Please wait on the ‘red feet’ until your gymnast exits the doors.
  • If the gymnast is more than 10 minutes late they will not be permitted to join the class, this is due to only allowing one coach per group, there will be no helpers to do a separate warm up.
  • No lost property will be kept, please check they have everything.
  • If you have a query please email hewett@spring-gymnastics.co.uk as the coaches will need to give their attention to the gymnasts.
